SBI’s second Village Connect has started in Kadumeni, Kasargod

In its continued commitment to society and the people of Kerala, State Bank of India conducted its second state wide Village Connect programme on 1st and 2nd October 2022.

On the eve of Gandhi Jayanti, SBI in Kerala organised various programs in 29 Villages (one per region) spreading across the State.

Women empowerment, self reliance, village and cottage industries, employment generation and customer service have been taken as main theme and SHGs have been the major target group.

The major programs included the following:

✅Honouring Freedom Fighters, self-employed persons including successful SHGs, Artisans, Weavers, Bank customers born before 15/08/1947 and Farmers etc.

✅Handing over of sanction letters to various Government Sponsored Scheme beneficiaries under PMMY/PMEGP/SHG credit linkage etc.

✅Sanction of SHG loans by way of take over from cooperative banks.

✅ Presentations on GSS & SSS highlighting their features and benefits. Stalls were put up in the program venues to popularise the schemes.

✅ Various CSR activities for the schools in weaker section habitats

✅ Freedom fight skits with in-house talent and display of videos which portrayed Gandhiji’s vision and values along with glimpses of freedom struggle

✅Felicitatation of winners of quiz on Freedom struggle and Gandhian values

✅ Other interactive sessions involving eminent persons harmonizing the concept of Village Connect. These programmes were conducted in Kadumeni and 28 other centres in Kerala.
SBI’s top officials and employees spent 2 days with their customers at their villages during the two-day SBI Village Connect programme. This time it was held on the 1st and 2nd of October on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanthi, focusing on 29 regions of the bank in Kerala.

State Bank of India’s Village Connect Programme was inaugurated by SBI Kerala Circle Chief General Manager Mr.Venkata Ramana Bayireddy. The first day program started at Kadumeni in Kasargod.
This programme had active participation of employees from all regions of SBI in Kerala. On the first day, it began with an opening speech by the village authority, embodying Mahatma Gandhi’s vision of rural India. A ceremony honoring freedom fighters or bank customers born before 15th August 1947 was the attraction of the day. Activities on the first day included awareness and felicitation ceremony through programs in association with KVIC, distribution of approval letter for PMEGP/PMMY/SUI or similar schemes of eligible customers. A skit on Gandhiji and his values presented by SBI employees followed by cultural programs and dinner enriched the program of the first day.

On the second day of Gandhi Jayanthi the activities were, Gandhi Jayanthi message by top officials of the bank followed by breakfast after cleaning premises and common areas, special study class for rural banking customers. The two-day event concluded with distribution of loan sanction letters to deserving self-help groups, distribution of prizes to winners of a quiz competition based on Gandhiji and the freedom struggle for students of nearby schools, and activities of the bank’s CSR functions to make schools in socially disadvantaged areas into smart schools.
